Women's Soccer Shuts Out Ospreys at Home

EWING, N.J.- The TCNJ women's soccer team earned their seventh win in a row on Wednesday night with a 6-0 victory over Stockton.

This is the sixth shutout in the last seven games for the Lions (10-1-1, 5-0) who tripled the two goals given up by Stockton (7-1-6, 1-1-3) the entire season before tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Victoria D'Imperio got the ball rolling for the Lions in the 21st minute after cashing in on the rebound of her own shot. Emma Pascarella crossed from the right side to Lindsay O'Keefe who found D'Imperio to fire away.
  • Ten minutes later, Ella Van Dine settled a free kick from Ava Curtis and sent a low running cross from left to right for D'Imperio to net her second goal of the game.
  • The Lions began to pour it on at the beginning of the second as Ava Garay scored just over a minute into the half on a Sophie Vieira cross on the counterattack to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • In the 67th, Allie O'Keefe took a shot from outside the 18 that snuck its way into the bottom left corner of the net past the diving Osprey keeper.
  • Ella Van Dine scored on a wild shot in the 74th as she sent a shot up from just near the corner on the right side that got over the head of the Stockton goalie and bounced into the back of the net.
  • Alyssa Alfano closed out the scoring for the Lions in the 82nd on a beautiful header that went into the top left corner of the woodwork on a great cross from Allie O'Keefe.
NOTES:
  • Van Dine and Allie O'Keefe each had a goal and an assist each. This is the first multi-point game of the season for O'Keefe.
  • Garay and Alfano have both score three goals in the last two games.
  • D'Imperio got back to scoring goals tonight as she has netted a goal in six of the last seven contests.
  • Sophie Vieira moves one point closer to 50 for her career with her one assist tonight. This brings her career point total to 47.
  • The Lions dominated possession throughout the game, leading the shots battle 28-1.

UP NEXT:
  • The Lions have another top-25 matchup on the horizon as they head to Montclair St. to take on the No. 11 Red Hawks Saturday at 1 PM.
