EWING, N.J.- The TCNJ men's soccer team dropped a home conference matchup to No. 6 Montclair St. on Saturday by a score of 4-0.
The Lions (3-10-2, 1-4-1) held the Red Hawks (12-1-1, 6-0) to just one goal in the first half but could not hold off the potent Montclair St. offense as they put up three more in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Red Hawks struck first in the 20th minute on an Amer Lukovic goal. In their counterattack, Lukovic sent a low running shot from the left side to the bottom right corner of the net to give Montclair State the lead.
- The lone chance of the half came on a J.J. Zaun shot from the top right corner of the box that sailed just high over the net.
- Just 77 seconds into the second half, Montclair St. extended their lead after Julian Franco was tagged for an illegal touch outside the box. Lukovic netted his second goal of the game on the PK.
- The Red Hawks tacked on their third and fourth goals of the game in the 69th and 73rd minutes while holding the Lions scoreless to come out with the 4-0 victory.
NOTES:
- This marks the fifth time this year that the Lions have faced off against a team that made a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2022.
- Franco is two saves away from reaching sixth on the TCNJ all-time saves list with his seven saves today.
- Zaun and Matias Hornos took two team-high shots for the Lions.
