Men's Soccer Taken Down by Gothic Knights

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The TCNJ men's soccer team lost a road NJAC matchup on Sunday to NJCU by a score of 2-0.

The Lions (3-12-2, 1-6-1) played a scoreless first half with the Gothic Knights (7-6-2, 2-5-1) but suffered two second half goals to put NJCU ahead.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The best chance in the first half for the Lions came off a Gavin Siengsanaoh shot to the bottom right corner of the net that was saved by the diving NJCU keeper.
  • The Gothic Knights wasted no time to score in the second half as they struck first in the 50th minute on a shot that got past the outstretched hands of Julian Franco.
  • The Lions nearly found the equalizer in the 84th as Massimo Rodio sent a screamer off the crossbar. Lucas Sample and Siengsanaoh followed the Rodio shot with shots of their own, both were saved by Nick Linebaugh.
  • NJCU tacked on one more just minutes later to secure the 2-0 victory.

NOTES:
  • The Lions sent a season high 11 shots on goal. Siengsanaoh led the team with three shots on goal while Rodio and Chris Meder had two each.
  • Franco's four saves brings him to 237 for his career as well as 6th on the TCNJ all-time saves list.

 UP NEXT:
  • The Lions will close out the regular season with a Senior Day celebration on Wednesday as TCNJ hosts Rutgers-Camden at 6 PM.
