EWING, N.J. -- Four TCNJ student-athletes – two from women's lacrosse and two from men's tennis – were recognized with NJAC weekly awards on Monday.
Ally Tobler (offensive player of the week) and
Wayden Ay (defensive player of the week) were honored for their efforts in leading the No. 3 lacrosse team to a pair of resounding victories, while
Alberto Thomas (player of the week) and
Harrison Maitland-Carter (rookie of the week) gave the men's tennis team another sweep of the East Division laurels.
Tobler was terrific as the women's lacrosse team routed Cabrini (18-7) and Farmingdale State (15-0) last week, racking up eight goals and two assists. She had three goals and an assist to go with a career-high eight draw controls against the Cavaliers before racking up five goals – including the 100
th of her career – and an assist in Saturday's shutout of Farmingdale State.
Ay was a force at both ends against Cabrini, recording seven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers to go with two goals and two assists on the attacking side. She scored another goal and registered three ground balls in helping the Lions blank Farmingdale State for their first shutout since 2019.
Thomas went 4-0 between No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles as the men's tennis team split a pair of tight matches with Hobart (L, 5-4) and Salisbury (W, 5-4) over the weekend. The rookie's straight-set win at No. 4 singles proved to be the clinching point in Sunday's victory at Salisbury. Thomas and
Jacob Quijano are a perfect 4-0 in doubles this spring.
Maitland-Carter made it four consecutive rookie of the week nods with a 2-0 effort against the Sea Gulls, winning in straight sets at No. 3 singles and teaming with
Matthew Michibata for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.
