Alvernia Tops Baseball 13-4

READING, PA.- The TCNJ baseball team lost on the road at Alvernia University on Tuesday by a score of 13-4

Both teams put up a run in the first, keeping the score tied going into the second. The Lions struck first on a Chris Reeder sac-fly to center field, scoring Justin Marcario. To lead off the game, Marcario reached first on an infield single and made his way to third via a ground out and a passed ball.

In the second the Golden Wolves pulled ahead with three runs on five hits and no errors to take a 4-1 lead going into the third.

In the fourth, Alvernia tacked on two more runs on to bring their lead to 6-1.

The TCNJ offense regained some life in the sixth coming off the bat of Jack Felipe. The Senior from Toms River jacked a two-run homer soaring over the left field fence, scoring himself and Ryan Goodall to reduce the lead to three runs.

In the bottom half of the sixth, the Golden Wolves put together a two out rally on two walks and a single to score another run and bring the score to 7-3.

The Lions answered once again in the seventh, erasing the one run Alvernia scored in the last half with a run of their own.

In back-and-forth fashion, Alvernia added two more runs in the home half of the seventh on a triple down the left field line to bring their advantage to six runs.

As the TCNJ bats faded, the Alvernia bats continued to show life as they added four more runs in the eighth on four hits and one error. In the top of the ninth, they held the Lions scoreless to seal the 13-4 win.

Felipe led the lions at the plate on Tuesday with the one homerun, two RBIs and one run scored.

TCNJ will receive a one day break before getting right back into NJAC play as they plan to host the Profs of Rowan with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 PM.
