Men's Tennis Sweeps Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. – The TCNJ men's tennis team dominated their conference matchup against Rutgers-Camden, 9-0, on the road Wednesday afternoon.

The Lions (10-3, 3-0 NJAC) lost just four total games on the day as it concluded the match with the sixth sweep of the season. With the victory, the Blue and Gold are set for a de facto East Division Championship match against NJCU in the regular season finale on April 23. The Gothic Knights are currently also unbeaten in NJAC play on the year.

In doubles play, TCNJ swept all three matchups without conceding a single game to Rutgers-Camden (0-8, 0-3 NJAC). In the No. 1 matchup, the duo of freshman Harrison Maitland-Carter and sophomore Jacob Quijano overwhelmed the Raptors' Edward McWilliams and Christopher Abacan, 8-0.

Nick Matkiwsky and Akul Telluri as well as Thomas Alberto and Brett Schuster each dominated in similar fashions in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively, to round out the sweep.

In singles action, Matkiwsky made his season debut in No. 6 Singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Raptor's Patrick DeMareo.

Derek Jordan, Schuster and Thomas followed suit by cruising to double bagel victories in their respective No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 matchups.

Senior Adrian Tsui came out on top in No. 1 Singles after facing some resistance from Rutger-Camden's McWilliams. Tsui won the first set 6-2, before closing the match out with an even more one-sided score of 6-1.

No. 5 singles saw Telluri drop a lone game in the first set before going 6-0 in set two to win his matchup.

The Lions will remain on the road Saturday as the team heads out to Madison, N.J. to face Drew in a morning matchup.
