Men's Soccer Falls in NJAC Matchup to Kean

EWING, N.J. – After entering the half tied, Kean found the lead early in the second half and held on for a 2-1 win over the TCNJ men's soccer team on Wednesday night.

The Lions (3-6-1) came out early with a ton of pressure and just could not maintain as Kean (6-0-3) picked up more scoring chances as the game went on.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lions got off to a quick once again as they took a 1-0 lead late in the 12th minute on a Luke Pascarella goal. Colin Kenville had the first go at the Kean goalkeeper with a low running shot that Pascarella picked up a quick second chance and sent it off the left post and into the back of the net.
  • As the first half went on, Kean picked up some more opportunities before tying the game up in the 31st minute. A free kick from 22 yards out was sent into the top left corner of the net past a diving Julian Franco.
  • Kean had a couple of chances to extend the lead in the first, but Franco was locked in with some clutch diving stops.
  • Right before the first half buzzer, the Lions had a chance to steal the lead when David Anderson took a breakaway shot that was sent just right of the net due to a charging Kean goalie.
  • Eight minutes into the second half, Kean picked up the lead on a second chance shot that slipped away from Franco and into the right side of the net.
  • The Lions had a few more chances but could not capitalize as Pascarella, Lucas Sample and Chris Meder all fired shots at the Kean goalie.
NOTES
  • In the last two meetings with the Cougars, Pascarella has found the back of the net four times.
  • Pascarella led the Lions in shots with three on the evening with Kenville just trailing him with two. Anderson, Sample, Meder, Massimo Rodio, Anden Johnson and Gavin Siengsanaoh all took shots for the Lions.
  • Despite giving up two goals, Franco put up another gritty performance with five saves in the contest.
UP NEXT
  • The Lions wrap up their two game home stand on Saturday with a matchup against William Paterson with first touch set for Noon.
