Women's Soccer Shines in 4-0 Win Over Berry

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's soccer team kept up their strong play from this past weekend with a 4-0 win over the Vikings of Berry College on Wednesday night.

The Lions (2-1) dominated the first half possession battle, taking 21 shots and scoring two goals compared to Berry's zero on both fronts. They took this first half effort and kept it up in the second as they took 20 more shots and scored two more goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lions struck first in the 25th minute on a long shot from Ava Curtis that was deflected by the Berry Goalkeeper and trickled into the bottom right corner of the net.
  • Just ten minutes later, a free kick that was sent in by Sofia Alves was deflected to the right off a Berry defender and sent into the back of the net on a strike by Alyssa Alfano.
  • In the 61st minute, Cassidy DiSabato netted her first goal of the season on a header in the crease following a corner kick by Emma Pascarella that Victoria D'Imperio kept up in the air.
  • Just over ten minutes later, Rachel Burkhard headed in a goal of her own on an assist coming from the foot of Ella Van Dine on a corner.
NOTES:
  • The Lions owned the shots battle as they took 41 of their own and allowed no shots on goal from Berry for the entirety of the game.
  • Alfano, DiSabato and Burkhard scored their first goals of the season.
  • Curtis scored her second goal of the season after recording her first against Haverford.
  • Pascarella assisted Curtis' opener and initiated a double assist on DiSabato's goal, when her corner found the head of D'Imperio before DiSabato headed it in herself
UP NEXT:
The Lions will host Penn St. Harrisburg on Saturday for another out of conference matchup with first touch set for Noon.
