EWING, N.J.- The TCNJ wrestling team had an impressive showing in the home opener on Saturday afternoon, defeating NJCU by a score of 46-4.
Despite receiving forfeits at 125, 197, and 285 from NJCU (2-13), the Lions (7-4) capitalized, with five wrestlers securing tech. fall wins.
The action kicked off with a forfeit at 125, followed by
Kyle Nase (133) delivering the first tech. fall of the day with a commanding 20-4 victory over Dean Costantino
Sam Kotch (141) matched Nase's decision in the next bout with a 19-4 tech. fall win against Andy Beras.
In a thrilling match,
Mayson Harms (149) secured a smartly navigated 6-5 decision win against Zack Vera.
After a loss at 157, No. 2 at 165,
Nick Sacco got the Blue and Gold back on track with a first-round 21-6 tech. fall.
The afternoon concluded with back-to-back great performances from
James Romaine (174) and
Reid Colella (184), each earning tech. fall victories. Romaine won 21-6 in 3:19, closely followed by Colella's 19-3 in 3:22.
TCNJ wrestling is right back in action next Saturday as they head up to Ithaca for a big matchup with the Bombers at 6 PM. Â
