Men's Tennis Downs Franklin & Marshall

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's tennis team remained unbeaten with a 7-2 triumph over visiting Franklin & Marshall inside the Rec Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
FOR THE RECORD
  • TCNJ moved to 4-0 on the spring, while F&M fell to 0-2
DOUBLES
  • Matthew Michibata and Harrison Maitland-Carter staked the Lions to a quick lead on the strength of an 8-3 win against Zac Ashtiani and Anthony Casale on the No. 1 court
  • Playing together for the first time this spring, Alberto Thomas and Asa Wong held off Luke Brodsky and Campbell Gervais, 8-6, at No. 3
  • Bidding for the sweep, TCNJ was denied by the slimmest of margins as Gonzalo Gentou and Pedro Norte bested Aayush Kishore and Dorian Makarski, 8-7 (4), in a tiebreaker
SINGLES
  • Kishore (6-1, 6-1 at No. 3) and Michibata (6-1, 6-2 at No. 1) made quick work of their opponents
  • Adrian Tsui provided the clinching point with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win against Brodsky on the No. 2 court
  • Gentou eked out a 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 thriller versus Makarski at No. 4
  • Maitland-Carter took down Daniel Feigelson 6-1, 7-5 at No. 5, and Brett Schuster handled Norte 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6
NOTES
  • Michibata is on the verge of history, closing to within one of the all-time wins record (144) shared by Marc Hill '03 and Michael Klimchak '08. The sixth-year standout can stamp his name alone atop the record books with two wins against RIT tomorrow
