Women's Tennis Battles With Goldey-Beacom, Whomps William Paterson

EWING, N.J. – The No. 41 TCNJ women's tennis team took Division II Goldey-Beacom to the limit in a hard-fought 5-4 defeat before routing William Paterson in nearly unblemished fashion to cap a double dip on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Prisha Priyadarshini and Marcella Warner each went 4-0 on the day for the Lions, who lost one game total against the Pioneers.
 
FOR THE RECORD
  • TCNJ is now 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC
  • Goldey-Beacom is 3-13 overall, while WPU is 2-7 overall and 0-3 in NJAC play

DOUBLES
  • Aira Abalos and Warner got things started in dominant fashion, blanking Macy Hendin-Walker and Hannah Brandl, 8-0, at No. 2
  • Leading 4-3, Priyadarshini and Gabriella Robinson ran off four straight games to post an 8-3 victory over Nahomi Quinonez and Jess Sanzo at No. 3
  • Looking for a sweep, Chase Eisenberg and Zoey Albert went toe to toe with Elizabeth Mova and Zehra Canbaz in a nail-biter at No. 1. The Lions' top pair trailed 7-5 before breaking serve at 7-6 to force a decisive tiebreak, but the Lightning tandem took the breaker, 7-4, on their third match point
SINGLES
  • The Lightning won the top three singles flights, but not without a hefty fight. Albert (No. 2) and Eisenberg (No. 3) each took their opponents to a third set, and Abalos (No. 1) battled Mova to a tiebreaker in the first set, 7-6 (6)
  • Priyadarshini handled Sanzo in straight sets (6-1, 7-5) at No. 4
  • Warner fought back from losing a first-set tiebreaker to claim a 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2 victory over Hendin-Walker at No. 5

DOUBLES
  • Albert and Eisenberg won 8-1 at No. 1 against Kourtney Hartzel and Isabella Palladino, the only game WPU won all day
  • Abalos and Warner won 8-0 at No. 2, as did Priyadarshini and Robinson at No. 3
SINGLES
  • Abalos (No. 1), Albert (No. 2), Eisenberg (No. 3), Priyadarshini (No. 4), Warner (No. 5), and Robinson (No. 6) all won 6-0, 6-0
