KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The TCNJ women's soccer team had two student-athletes earn spots on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team, as released by the organization this morning.
Alyssa Alfano earned a First Team nod while
Maggie Murphy was named to the Third Team.
Alfano pairs a First Team All-NJAC selection with her debut on the All-Region Team following a breakout junior campaign in which she led TCNJ in goals (10), assists (7) and points (27). Alfano was unstoppable at the end of the regular season, tallying seven of her career-best 10 scores in the Lions' final six games – a stretch in which they went 5-0-1 – to keep TCNJ in the fight for the top seed in the conference tournament before ultimately earning the three seed.
Murphy is also a first-time honoree following her selection to the All-Region Third Team. The sophomore stepped into a larger role in her second season in Ewing and responded with career-best totals in goals (4), assists (4) and points (12), including an impressive two-goal, one-assist showing in TCNJ's NJAC Quarterfinal win over Stockton. Murphy finished with team-high marks in both shots (56) and shots on goal (21) to solidify herself as one of the top offensive threats in both the conference and the region.
The United Soccer Coaches All-America Teams will be announced Thursday, Dec. 4.
