Three-Setters Elude Men's Tennis in Loss at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The TCNJ men's tennis team wound up on the short end of four three-setters in singles play at No. 49 Washington College on Saturday, dropping a 6-1 decision in a match that was much closer than the final score indicated.
 
DOUBLES
  • The Shoremen claimed two of three doubles courts, both by 6-4 score lines in the first and second flights
  • Sidd Arudi and Nathan Chan, however, were first off the courts with a resounding 6-2 win at third doubles
SINGLES
  • Washington College took a 2-0 lead with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles
  • The top three courts all went to a decisive third set, and each went against the Lions
  • Harrison Maitland-Carter fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to Sihoo Kim at No. 1
  • Aaradith Ravichandran edged Alberto Thomas 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 2
  • Brett Schuster won the first set and raced out to a 4-1 lead in the third set but was unable to hold onto the advantage as Demir Isiker rallied for a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 victory
  • Chan trailed 4-1 in the first set at number five, but came all the way back for a 7-5 first frame win. Unfortunately, Kohl Perkins claimed the second set, 6-3, and won the third-set super tiebreak by a count of 10-1
  • Olufela Fieulleteau overcame a 5-3 deficit in the second half to take down Oskar Wroblewski 6-1, 7-5 at number six

  • The Lions take a crack at No. 29 Salisbury on Sunday. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
