Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Conner Gilson

Women's Soccer Stymied in 1-0 Loss at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The TCNJ women's soccer team was on the road to take on Arcadia in non-conference action Wednesday night, falling 1-0 to the Knights.

Arcadia (2-1-1) saw itself with two scoring chances in the early going, but the Lions (2-2-1) got some help from the woodwork on both occasions to keep the Knights off the board. TCNJ responded by firing three shots in three minutes just under midway through the half, but attempts by Ari Keily, Bella Norman and Emily Weidner were all easily handled by Arcadia's Abigail Fuchs.

Jenny Ward created the last real chance of the half in the 31st minute, but her solo effort ended with a shot from 25 yards out that bounced into the gloves of Fuchs, leaving the game scoreless entering the break.

After the quiet opening frame it took just 58 seconds into the second half for the Knights to take the lead off the foot of Abby Stephens. TCNJ did all it could to score an equalizer – the Lions put five shots on goal in the final 45 minutes – but was unable to get anything past Fuchs, resulting in the 1-0 loss.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • TCNJ held a 23-9 lead in shots – including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal – but none tested Fuchs.
  • Six different Lions registered a shot on goal, paced by two each from Keily, Norman and Ward.
UP NEXT
  • TCNJ will continue its two-game road trip with a match against 14th-ranked Swarthmore Saturday, Sept. 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
