Men's Soccer Blanks Farmingdale State in Brick City Classic Finale

NEWARK, N.J. - The TCNJ men's soccer team cruised to another comfortable win in its matchup against Farmingdale State Sunday afternoon, shutting out the Rams in a 4-0 victory.

The Lions (4-0) wasted no time building a lead in Sunday's contest, scoring two goals in the opening 10 minutes to jump in front early. Massimo Rodio struck first at the 8:40 mark, taking a feed from Chris Meder to the left of the goal and slotting it to the far post to open up the scoring. Just under a minute later it was Pablo Argueta receiving a pass at the penalty spot from Matias Hornos and one-timing it home to double the lead with his first of two goals on the afternoon.

The sides traded opportunities over the next 25 minutes before a second goal from Argueta ballooned the lead to three right before the break. Rodio, J.J. Zaun and Aidan Ayar combined in the midfield following a Rams (0-4) turnover, setting up the freshman to send a through ball to a streaking Argueta. The junior took one touch into the box and calmly found the bottom corner to make it a 3-0 game at halftime – the third consecutive game in which TCNJ has held that exact lead at the half.

Meder nearly scored one of his own just over two minutes into the second half, but had his shot headed for the top of the goal palmed aside by Farmingdale State's Rocco Dispinseri. The Lions would not be denied a fourth, however, with Ayar scoring his second of the season to make it a 4-0 game with 10 minutes left in regulation.

Matt Maceri controlled the ball in TCNJ's half, taking a touch toward the midfield line before sending a long ball to Ayar. The freshman was the first to it, outrunning the Rams defender and poking it into the back of the net for the Lions' fourth and final goal. Carson Dodd would go untested over the final 10 minutes en route to his second shutout in as many appearances and a fourth consecutive win for TCNJ.
