NEW YORK, N.Y. – The No. 4 TCNJ wrestling team beat the incoming blizzard and a nationally ranked foe on Saturday night, bringing a 33-14 victory over No. 18 NYU back from the Big Apple.
 
Garrett Totten worked a technical fall against a nationally ranked opponent, one of five bonus-point wins for the Lions (10-6), who ended NYU's 10-match winning streak and handed the hosts just their second dual defeat of the season.
 
The Royals (17-2) got off to an early lead as No. 7 Alex Diaz edged No. 6 Matthew Griffin, 8-6, in a top-10 tussle at 125. That was as good as it got for the grapplers in purple.
 
No. 3 Totten dominated his matchup with No. 11 Jacob Venezia at 133, cruising to a 19-4 technical fall.
 
No. 7 Vinnie Santaniello followed suit at 141, routing James Carlock by a count of 20-4.
 
J.J. Giordano fell just shy of a major in a still-impressive 14-7 defeat of John Mariano at 149, and Colin Menier handed Robert Leeds a 9-4 loss at 157.
 
Jordan Ayyash tallied the third tech fall of the night fore the Lions, handling John Gleason 20-3 at 165.
 
NYU got as close as 23-14 after a pin at 174 and tech fall at 184, but No. 7 D.J. Henry clinched the dual by pinning Bennet Sonneborn with just under a minute remaining in the third period of their 197-pound bout.
 
Matt Coon closed it out in style, pinning Nathan Faxon in just 91 seconds at heavyweight.
