NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –
Maya Knasiak put in yet another dominant performance on the mound on Wednesday afternoon, pitching a one-hitter in a 3-0 win over Centenary.
TCNJ (8-6) got on the board in the first inning, scoring twice on three hits. Gianna Vasquez got it started with a leadoff triple to center field, and
Morgan Leonhauser drove her in with a sacrifice fly for the first run of the game.
Emily Gill then singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch, and
Maya Knasiak scored Gill to give herself a two-run cushion. TCNJ would score just once more in the contest despite logging ten hits on the day, but any lead would be more than safe with Knasiak on the mound.
Knasiak limited the Cyclones (1-6) to one hit in the entire contest, allowing just one baserunner to come into scoring position. Centenary's singular hit came in the second inning — an inconsequential leadoff single which preceded a swinging strikeout and a double play. The fifth inning was especially dominant for Knasiak (even for her lofty standards), as she struck out the side in the frame.
At the end of seven innings, Knasiak had recorded 10 strikeouts. She now needs just one more for 300 in her career. This outing also marked her 27
th win, 23
rd complete game, and 12
th shutout.
