EWING, N.J. – The No. 41 TCNJ women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, dropping a 7-0 shutout at the hands of No. 35 NYU at the Tennis Complex.
NYU's vaunted doubles lineup got the best of the Lions on Sunday, claiming all three courts.
Zoey Albert and
Shruti Mannan at number one joined
Elizabeth Ring and
Gabriella Robinson at number three as the closest tilts, each conceding a 6-3 decision.
The Violets won all six singles courts in straight sets. The closest the Lions got to taking a set was Ring at number six, who fought back from a 6-0 first-set defeat to lead 5-4 and had a set point in the second before Noelle Faber closed out a 6-0, 7-5 victory.
Albert battled Victoria Wang, ranked 5
th in the Northeast Region, to a 6-3, 6-3 decision at number two.
