Baseball Drops to No. 6 Rowan in Another High-Scoring Contest

GLASSBORO, N.J. – For the second game in a row, the TCNJ baseball team was involved in a game which involved more than 30 runs between the two teams. The Lions were on the losing side this time, however, by a scoreline of 16-21 against No. 6 Rowan.

The Profs (23-3, 10-1 NJAC) got off to an explosive start, putting up seven runs in the bottom of the first. The Lions (13-18, 2-8 NJAC) clawed their way back, however, putting up five runs in the second and six runs in the third. The Profs also scored four of their own in those two innings, and the game was 11-11 heading into the middle innings.

Rowan was able to limit the damage in the middle innings while continuing to score runs themselves, logging ten across the middle innings. Going into the seventh, the Profs were leading 21-13. The Lions gave themselves a decent shot at an upset win even after going down eight, as Brady Reardon and Tim Search Jr. (making his collegiate pitching debut) tossed a scoreless seventh and eighth inning respectively. TCNJ scored three in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to five thanks to Andrew Pearson's two-run single and Nate McLaughlin's RBI single, but they were held scoreless after that point.

Despite the loss, it was another fantastic performance offensively for several Lions. Braden Dromboski logged his second consecutive four-hit, three-run game, and he also logged three runs, three RBIs, and a walk. Tyler Provost marked his return to the lineup with three hits, which included his sixth home run of the season; Jake Carter also logged three hits in the contest. Pearson, McLaughlin, and Michael Contiliano also each had two hits, rounding out the group of six Lions with multi-hit performances against the Profs; Pearson and Contiliano also racked up three RBIs each. Finally, Chris Salmon notably hit his second triple in as many games, which accounted for the Lions first two runs of the game.
