EWING, N.J. – The No. 39 TCNJ men's tennis team breezed to another WIAC East Division title on Saturday, brushing aside Rutgers-Camden by a 7-0 sweep to clinch another trip to the conference championship match.
With the victory, one in which they concede a single game, the Lions (14-4, 2-0) set up a rematch with Wisconsin-Whitewater for the WIAC championship, which will be held May 2 on the campus of the Warhawks. Whitewater has defeated TCNJ in the conference final in each of the last two seasons.
With the Scarlet Raptors bringing only five players, thus forfeiting third doubles and sixth singles, the match reached its inevitable conclusion even faster.
Harrison Maitland-Carter and
Asa Wong won 6-0 at number one doubles, as did
Nathan Chan and
Alberto Thomas at number two.
Thomas dropped just one game at number one singles, ending the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Before that, Maitland-Carter (No. 2), Chan (No. 3),
Faris Shehata (No. 4), and
Aidan Twamley (No. 5) all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
