Men's Tennis Waltzes Past Wilkes

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Harrison Maitland-Carter hit a major career landmark in the TCNJ men's tennis team's 7-0 sweep at Wilkes on Friday.

Maitland-Carter and partner Asa Wong held off Cole Riley and Sebastian Sylvester, 6-4, at number one doubles, giving the TCNJ senior his 69th career doubles win. That number pulled him into a tie for 2nd in program history with longtime assistant coach Mike Klimchak '07, and trails only Matthew Michibata's 86 for the all-time high.

That match proved the closest of the afternoon as the No. 52 Lions (9-4) finished off the Colonels in a little more than an hour. Nathan Chan and Alberto Thomas won 6-0 at number two doubles, while Sidd Arudi and Faris Shehata – playing doubles in a dual match for the first time in his career – also won by bagel at number three.

Brett Schuster (No. 6) and Shehata (No. 4) were off the court quickly with double-bagels in singles, with Shehata's serving as the clincher after Maitland-Carter narrowly beat him to the punch with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Riley at No. 2.

Aidan Twamley prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at number five, Chan was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at number three, and Thomas handled Sylvester 6-2, 6-1 on the top court.
