Biography

The recipient of the team’s Fireman of the Year Award in 2008, Eric Gertie finished his junior season with a team-leading 19 appearances, while racking up nine saves. He was ranked nationally having finished tied for eighth in Division III with his nine saves, while adding a 2.49 ERA along the way with a 3-2 record. 

He worked in 25.1 innings with 32 strikeouts and held the opposition to a .226 average and finished the year with a combined shutout, having also walked just seven batters over the course of the season.

He brings a 5-2 career record into the 2009 season, having racked up nine saves with 52 strikeouts in 49.2 innings of work. He has a 2.72 career ERA is 31 appearances.

Look for Gertie to pick up right where he left off last year as the team’s primary closer, a role he excelled in as a junior having earned a spot on the 2008 NJCBA All-State Third Team.

A graduate of Cinnaminson High School, Eric was an honor roll student. He is majoring in engineering at TCNJ and is the son of Ken and Lisa Gertie.
