Biography

L/L

A three-year letterwinner for the Lions, Bob Buskett has excelled on the pitching mound for the Lions. He brings a 15-2 career record into the 2008 campaign with a 3.45 career ERA and 91 strikeouts. A 2007 NJAC Honorable Mention pick, Buskett went 6-2 as a junior having added 41 strikeouts in 59.2 innings of work. He ranks 22nd all-time on TCNJ’s career innings pitched list with 140.2 through his three seasons of work, while his 91 career strikeouts is 23rd. He should become the 24th Lion pitcher to join the 100 strikeout club this year.

A 2005 NJAC All-Star First Team pick at pitcher as a freshman in 2005, Buskett went 2-0 in 17.1 innings of work, while holding the opposition to a .288 batting average in six outings with three starts. He followed up his rookie season with a selection to the 2006 NJAC All-Star Honorable Mention Team. He was also tapped for the 2006 NJCBA All-State First Team after he went 7-0 on the year with a 2.12 ERA in 63.2 IP. He added 41 strikeouts and picked up the Lions’ only two complete games, including a 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall College in the opening game of the 2006 NCAA Regionals. Buskett’s 2006 performance ranks among the Lions’ single-season records as he ranks 30 in IP, fourth in wins (7), 33rd in strikeouts (41), and 12th in ERA (2.12).

His junior season saw the talented leftie go 6-2 with 10 starts, the most of any Lion pitcher in 2007. He held the opposition to a .260 average and walked just 20 in 59.2 innings of work. Buskett suffered his first career loss on March 14, 2007 as the Lions fell to Montclair State, but not before he strung together a perfect 12-0 start to his TCNJ numbers. His only other setback came at the hands of No. 13 ranked Johns Hopkins University on May 17 in the 2007 NCAA Regionals. He opened the month of April with a bang. He was named the NCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association for the week ending April 8. Buskett also was selected as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, which led to his selection as the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Coaches Association Pitcher of the Week as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Division III Pitcher of the Week.
