Biography

A newcomer to the lineup in 2007, Jeff Toth certainly made his presence known as the short stop was named to the 2007 Rawlings/ABCA Division III All-America Third Team for his efforts in the Lions’ lineup. Toth played in all 45 games for the Lions and proceeded to bat .368 with a team-high 68 hits. He added 44 RBI’s with six doubles, seven triples and eight homeruns for a .750 slugging percentage. He was 26-27 on stolen bases and was picked off for the first time in the NCAA tournament. His 185 at bats in a season ranks 13th best, while his 51 runs scored also ranks ninth best, while his 68 hits ranks ninth best as well at TCNJ.

Toth added a selection to the 2007 NJCBA All-State First Team as well as the 2007 NJAC All-Star Second Team in his first season as a Lion. Toth finished the year ranked in the national statistics as he was No. 16 with his 0.16 triples per game, and tied for 50th with his eight homeruns in 2007. The 2007 All-America award marks his second career All-America citation after earned NJCAA All-America First Team honors in 2006 as a member of the Middlesex Community College Team, where he was also tapped as the squad’s MVP.

In his second season at TCNJ, Toth was chosen the team’s Player of the Year after adding numerous individual post-season awards to his resume. Named to the 2008 NJAC All-Star First, the 2008 NJCBA All-Star First Team, as well as the ECAC All-Star First Team, Toth was also placed on the ABCA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, after batting .353 with 18 extra-base hits, including a team co-high six homeruns. He was 21-24 on the basebaths as well after posting a .564 slugging percentage with a .473 on-base percentage. He also drew a team-best 31 walks, while being hit by a pitch 11 times a year ago while scoring 45 runs in 41 starts.

His 45 runs scored a year ago ranks 15th for a single-season performance, while he tied his effort from 2007 having also drawn 31 walks in 2008, good enough for sixth all-time for season.

He enters the 2009 season poised to make a run at numerous TCNJ career marks. He ranks fourth for career triples with 10, just four away from tying the mark (14), while ranking 13th with 14 career homeruns, and ninth with his 47 stolen bases.

Toth is a graduate of Sayreville War Memorial High School, having excelled in basketball, indoor track, and baseball. A National Honor Society member, he also earned a spot in the Math and Spanish Honor Societies.
