Biography

2014: Varone had a terrific rookie season for the Lions, starting all 48 games at second base. He solidified his starting position with a seven-game hitting streak to open the season. Varone was also extremely reliable in the infield, playing 27 consecutive errorless games and boasting a .971 fielding percentage. He registered 111 assists and 94 putouts and also had his glove on 26 double plays. Varone finished the season with 30 hits and 18 runs batted in. His best offensive performance came against FDU Florham where he recorded a pair of hits, three RBI and scored three runs. 

2015: Started 31 games for the Lions at second base. … Batted .264 with 29 hits, 18 runs scored, and 12 runs batted in. … Registered eight multi-hit games. ... Went 4-for-8 in an NJAC double header sweep against William Paterson and also rapped out four hits in a twin-bill against Montclair State.  

2016: Made 38 starts at second base for the Lions in 2016. Varone celebrated a few career highs in his junior campaign with 33 hits, a .275 batting average and played a very solid second base fielding .980.  Varone registered 8 multi hit games including a pair of 3 hit performers in victories against Babson and Ursinus.  In a NJAC game against Rowan, Varone helped lift the Lions over the Profs driving in a pair of runs on the way to a 10-1 Lions victory.
