The Lions’ fireman last season, Julius Jenkins made 21 appearances in 2003 and was recognized for his efforts with several post season awards. Tapped as the NJAC and the NJCBCA All-State Fireman of the Year, he was also named to the ABCA All-Region Third Team All-America squad.

He went 3-1 on the year with four saves and had a 2.23 ERA in 36.1 innings of work. He fanned 39 batters as well for the year and led the NJAC with his 21 appearances and four saves. Tapped as the National Baseball Writers Association Division III Pitcher of the Week on April 22, Jenkins was also recognized with a selection as the NJCBCA Pitcher of the Week that same week after collecting a win and three saves in six appearances the previous week.

Overall on the 2003 season, Jenkins held the opposition to a .153 batting average and gave up just four extra-base hits in 36.1 innings of work.

On his career, he has come a long way after a 15.43 ERA as a rookie in 2001. He now sports a 4.163 ERA on his career with 92 strikeouts in 80 innings of work.
