BEFORE TCNJ: Ran cross country and track for Bernards High ... Was an eight time all-conference selection as well as an 11-time all-county selection ... His team was sectional champions in 2015 and 2017 for cross country, and 2016 for track ... Earned maxima cum laude honors for the national Latin exam and bronze honors for the national Spanish exam.

PERSONAL: His brother, Richard Gruters was a part of TCNJ's cross country and track teams ... Biggest athletic thrill so far has been running in nationals six times in high school ... Has a hidden talent of drawing and watercolors ... People may not know that he likes drawing, reads frequently, and enjoys writing.
