Brennen Fitzsimmons joined interim head coach P.J. Ringel's staff as an assistant coach for the 2024 season.
Fitzsimmons brings plenty of NJAC experience, having played at Stockton and served as an assistant at Rutgers-Newark during some of the program's most successful seasons. He was previously an assistant coach at Monmouth and held a three-year stint as head coach at Brookdale Community College.
Fitzsimmons helped Rutgers-Newark reach its highest status in school history by breaking the school record for wins in a regular season in back-to-back years (2012 and 2013). In 2013, the program clinched its first NCAA tournament berth and won its first ever NCAA tournament game in 2014. In the four years that Fitzsimmons was the assistant coach at Rutgers-Newark, the team won the ECAC tournament and posted an overall winning percentage of 67.7% (63-27-3), and he coached one All-American.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Fitzsimmons was a four-year starter at Stockton, where he started all 86 games of his career. The two-time captain was named NJAC Rookie of the Year in 2008, went to the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and 2010, and tallied 12 goals and 30 points over his four years at center back.
Fitzsimmons was a two-sport standout in soccer and basketball at Neptune High School. He was a two-year captain for the Fliers while earning four letters in soccer and two in basketball. He also helped Neptune to a Shore Conference championship.
Fitzsimmons received his bachelor's in Biology from The Richard Stockton University and his master's in Environmental Science from Rutgers University and The New Jersey Institute of Technology. He currently resides in Neptune City, New Jersey.
