Gianni Grimaldi owns a plethora of experience in the world of coaching soccer. He has over 25 years of experience combined at the professional, collegiate, and Olympic development program levels.
Grimaldi has been a head coach at five different collegiate institutions. He has served time at Catholic University, Florida Institute of Technology, Salem International University, College of Mount Saint Vincent, and Burlington County College. Grimaldi has also been an assistant coach at American University, Princeton University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Saint Joseph’s University. He helped several of those programs in rebuilding and recruiting. His teams reached the conference playoffs 12 times in 18 years, and made four appearances in the NCAA and NAIA Tournaments.
Grimaldi has also coached professionally at Perugia, Italy, as well as Ponsacco, Italy. Both of those squads reached the Italy National Cup Playoffs under Grimaldi’s guidance.
He has also been the owner/director/coach of the Grimaldi Italian Soccer Academy in Italy and Virginia. During his time there, he has helped with the college placement of over 200 Division I scholar-athletes, and over 300 Division II, III, NAIA, and junior college athletes.
Grimaldi has also been involved in the U.S. Soccer Federation Staff for the U-18 Women’s National Team. He also has been the Head Coach of the Olympic Development Program for Boys U-16, U-15, and U-14 in Virginia.
He attended Rutgers University, where he was a captain and a four year starter for the soccer team. Grimaldi got his bachelor’s degree in geography from Rutgers, and his masters from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in geography & regional planning.
