Goalkeeper Senior
Arthur P. Schalick/Pittsgrove, NJ
Back for his fourth and final season, Shawn Mecchi is a solid goalkeeper that TCNJ could be dependent upon this season. As a junior, he led the unit with his 12 appearances, including 11 starts. He posted a 1.59 GAA with a pair of shutouts wins.
As a sophomore in 2002, he shared time in goal and finished the year with a 1.72 GAA. He was part of a goalkeeping squad that helped the Lions post a 10-7-3 record and return to the NJAC playoffs.
As a newcomer in 2001, he quickly established himself as the Lions’ No. 1 goalkeeper and recorded eight wins against six losses with a pair of ties. Despite the record, he caught the attention of many coaches in the league to earn NJAC Honorable Mention status with his All-Star honors as a rookie with a 1.18 GAA and an .827 saves percentage in 2001.
On his career, Mecchi now holds a 1.446 GAA in 38 games played with 34 starts. He is a criminal justice major at TCNJ.
