Entering seventh season as assistant coach in 2024-25

Glenn Michibata returns to the Lions for his sixth season in 2023-24.

Michibata joined the Lions after a 12-year stint as the head men's tennis coach at Princeton University. In his 12 seasons at Princeton, Michibata guided the Tigers to a 145-121 overall record and a winning Ivy League campaign in seven of those 12 campaigns, coaching three Ivy League Players of the Year during his tenure.

A native of Toronto, Michibata was a three-time All-American and four-year letterwinner at Pepperdine from 1979-83.

Following his collegiate career, Michibata embarked on a professional career on the ATP Tour from 1983-93. He was a member of 14 Davis Cup teams for his native Canada, and competed in several Grand Slam events. He advanced to the semifinals at Wimbledon and the French Open in doubles in 1991 and reached the doubles final of the Australian Open in 1990. In 1991, Michibata was ranked No. 1 in the world in doubles with partner Grant Connell, and had a ranking as high as No. 48 in the world in singles play. He reached the second round of all four Grand Slams, including three Wimbledons (1984, 1988, 1991).

Michibata's success led to his induction into the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame and the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Michibata and Connell were inducted into the Rogers Cup Hall of Fame in 2010, and Michibata was enshrined in the Mercer County Tennis Hall of Fame in 2023.

In August 1995, he began a two-year professional coaching career as the personal coach for Daniel Nestor and Mark Knowles. Michibata coached Nestor and Knowles to the World Doubles Championships, where they finished the year ranked No. 4 in the world. Michibata then took a position as an assistant coach at the University of Southern California from 1997-2000. He was responsible for on-court instruction, scheduling, and scouting during his three years with the Trojans.

Michibata's son, Matthew, is playing his sixth season at TCNJ in 2023-24 and is one of the winningest players in program history with well over 100 career victories and counting.
