Ayumi Yamazaki opened her collegiate career with a spot in the Lions' starting lineup as she played at fourth singles and third doubles. She was tapped once during the fall of 2003 as the NJAC Rookie of the Week and finished the fall season with a perfect dual match singles record of 5-0. Overall on the year, she went 23-10 in singles and doubles play. She led the Lions in 2003-2004 with her 13 dual match singles wins and finished the year with a 15-5 mark in singles play.
She teamed at third doubles with Karen Shih to post a 7-2 dual match record and is looking to continue her success on the court this fall having had a triumphant start to her career. Scholastically, Yamazaki was a team captain at Northern Highlands and earned first team all-league honors, while guiding the team to the NBIL Championship and a runner-up finish at the state tournament.
