Biography

Christina Contrafatto came to TCNJ after a distinguished scholastic career, where she recorded a 25-0 singles record as a senior, while playing on the No. 1 ranked team in the state, Cherry Hill East High School. A four-time All-South Jersey honoree, she achieved a No. 17 ranking in the Middle States in singles and a No. 3 ranking in doubles during her senior year.

As a TCNJ rookie, she earned the No. 1 spot in the lineup in both singles and doubles and combined for a 29-16 record in her collegiate debut. Tapped as the 2004 NJAC Player and Rookie of the Year, Contraffato went 15-8 on the year in singles play and 13-8 with Jackie Gavornik in doubles competition. In addition, she reached the quarterfinals of the 2004 ITA Northeast Regional Singles Championship in her first month as a Lion.

Contrafatto continued her dominance as a sophomore, once again playing first singles. She was the 2005 ITA Northeast Regional Champion, and traveled to the ITA Nationals, where she took seventh nationally to earn ITA All-America honors. On the season, Contrafatto amassed a 20-6 record in singles and 12-2 in doubles.

She is coming off another stellar season having once again earned ITA All-America honors in the fall after teaming with Jackie Shtemberg to take fifth place after capturing the 2006 ITA Northeast Regional Doubles Championship. Overall on the season, she went 11-3 in singles play with an impressive 8-3 mark at the No. 2 spot, while adding a 24-6 doubles record to her resume. In doubles as a junior, Contrafatto amassed an 11-3 tournament record with a 13-3 dual meet record. She now stands at 46-17 on her singles career and 55-18 in doubles play for an overall record of 101-35 through three seasons of play.

A two-time NJAC Player of the Year honoree, she was named to the league's All-Star Team in doubles in 2006 after leading the Lions to another conference championship crown. She returns this season having earned a No. 23 national ranking in doubles in 2006-2007, while boasting a No. 24 regional singles ranking and a No. 7 regional doubles ranking as a junior.
