Voted the recipient of the Coaches' Award for the 2003-2004 season, Jackie Gavornik earned both ITA All-America honors and All-NJAC honors as a sophomore last year. Playing at the ITA Omni Hotels National Small College Championships last year with her partner, Kristen Klepacki, she earned ITA All-America honors after finishing in seventh place nationally in October. Earlier in the season, the Lion duo won the ITA East Regional Doubles Title and picked up NJAC All-Star honors for their play together.
Overall on the year, the pair went 20-9 together, including an impressive 13-4 dual match record. Paired together as freshman, Gavornik and Klepacki are now 39-12 together in doubles play and boast a .765 win percentage in doubles action.
As a sophomore, Gavornik played at both second and third singles and went 12-11 overall on the season, including a 11-6 dual match record. She now stands at 30-15 on her career in singles competition. Tapped as a 2003 NJAC All-Star as well in singles action, she went 6-0 in the fall in singles action.
As a collegiate newcomer, she had an impressive rookie campaign. She went 14-3 in dual match play at the No. 3 spot in the singles ladder. Overall on the year, she posted an 18-4 singles record and had an .818 singles win percentage. In doubles, she had an even more impressive rookie season as she teamed with Klepacki at No. 2 doubles to go 15-2 in dual match play. Overall on the year, she went 19-3 in doubles play and by season’s end was named the team’s co-Most Valuable Player.
Named a tri-captain for the 2003-2004 squad, she returns this season in that role and now has a combined 69-27 career record at TCNJ. A TCNJ Scholar-Athlete, Gavornik is an elementary education major and will once again be a candidate for CoSIDA's Academic All-America Team this year.
