Heather Charlton joined TCNJ's athletic training staff in the summer of 2025, following a three-year stint as Head Athletic Trainer at Gwynedd Mercy University.
Charlton MBA, ATC, LAT, joined the Gwynedd Mercy athletic training staff as Head Athletic Trainer in February 2022, overseeing the training needs of 13 varsity sports. Before that, she served as the head athletic trainer at St. Georges Technical High School in Middletown, Delaware, in 2021. While there, she was in charge of the treatment and care of all varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen teams, including basketball, cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, soccer, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling. Â

A 2019 graduate of Temple University, Charlton earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training while fulfilling her own student-athlete eligibility as a member of the Owls’ cheerleading team. She received her master's degree in business administration with a specialization in Healthcare Administration from Gwynedd Mercy University in 2024. Charlton also gained undergraduate experience rotating with various high schools across Philadelphia and New Jersey, as well as Temple University, Drexel University, and Chestnut Hill College.
Following graduation, Charlton worked as the athletic trainer for both the Temple cheerleading and dance teams, also serving the greater Philadelphia area through her work with NovaCare Physical Therapy. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS) and is a licensed athletic trainer in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.Â
