Max Hayford joined his alma mater's staff as wide receivers coach before the 2026 season.
Hayford played wide receiver himself for the Lions, breaking out as a senior with 18 receptions for a team-leading 342 yards and a touchdown in 2021. He had four catches for 82 yards against Kean and four receptions for a career-high 112 yards against Salisbury, including a 77-yard touchdown grab. A big-play threat on the outside, Hayford also hauled in a 55-yard reception versus Christopher Newport.
Hayford played his high school football at Summit High School, where he was an all-conference selection.
