Burns won the 1-meter board against New York University with a score of 240.60, while adding first on the 3-meter board as well with a score of 243.50. Then against William Paterson, he posted a pair of wins, including an NCAA provisional score with his victory in the 1-meter event. Burns posted a score of 260.50 to win the 1-meter board and won the 3-meter event with a score of 247.00. As a team, the Lions won both of their dual meets.
