Lion men's swimmers excel at Ramapo College

Mahwah, NJ…The College of New Jersey's men's swimming squad recorded an impressive 111-72 road win over Ramapo College on Saturday and is now 3-0 on the year overall with a 2-0 mark in the NJAC.

TCNJ's men's team opened with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:39.46 as two relay lineups posted the winning time. On one relay was junior Ryan Kearney (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley), sophomore Aaron Moskovich (East Brunswick, NJ/east Brunswick), sophomore Tim Rauch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), and junior James VanBiervliet (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) were one the one relay. Adding the same time as well for the Lions was sophomore Shawn Kircher (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), sophomore Tom Medvecky (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), and sophomore Joe Tseng (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park).

Sophomore Pete Goldsmith (Easton, PA/Easton Area) was a winner taking the 1000 freestyle in 10:34.40. Medvecky won the 200 freestyle in 1:44.44 and Kircher picked up first in the 50 freestyle in 22.49.

Senior tri-captain Mike Heaney (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace) won the 200 individual medley in 2:04.34, while O'Connor added the win in the 100 butterfly in 56.58. Senior Tom Nawrot (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) won the 100 freestyle in 49.44 and Tseng captured the 100 backstroke in 55.22. Kircher won the 500 freestyle in 5:06.87 backstroke to help the Lions dominate the day.

The Lions also posted a time of 1:32.44 in the 200 freestyle relay but had gone to exhibition as
Swimmers Goldsmith, Moskovich, Rauch, and rookie Mike Vernoia (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) combined for the Lions.
