York, PA… The College of New Jersey wrestling team collected two more dual-meet victories on Saturday as the Lions held off host York College 18-17 and also defeated Elizabethtown College by the score of 25-15 on Saturday.
The match against York marked the sixth time this season the Lions have taken on a ranked opponent as they have compiled a solid 5-1 mark in those matches. Overall on the season, TCNJ is 10-1. The Lions are currently ranked 18th in latest Brute – Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, while York is 28th.
TCNJ had four wrestlers go a perfect 2-0 helping the team reach double figures in wins for the 23rd straight season. Winning both of their matches on Saturday were Bill Tenpenny (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) at 141, Dan DiColo (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) at 157, Justin Bonitatis (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) at 165, and Ed Broderick (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) at 197.
Adding to the two wins were Tyler Branham (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny) and John Barnett (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) as they each won a match at 149 pounds.
The Lions continue their run of dual meets on Thursday, January 22 hosting Centenary College in a 7 p.m. start at Packer Hall.
