Salisbury, MD…The College of New Jersey softball team wrapped up action at the Salisbury Invitational on Saturday taking the field for two more games. The Lions fell 4-1 to Plattsburgh State in nine innings and then fell to the host Sea Gulls, 6-2.
TCNJ (7-9) returns home on Wednesday, March 25 hosting Muhlenberg College for a doubleheader with the opening game starting at 3 p.m.

The Cardinals scored three times in the ninth inning to outlast the Lions.
TCNJ scored first as senior Kelly Armstrong (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) reached on an error and ended up scoring on a second.
Plattsburgh forced extra innings by scoring in seventh in the inning knotting the game at 1-1.
Freshman Lauren Fitzsimmons (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) suffered the loss for the Lions despite a career-high 13 strikeouts in eight innings of work.

The hosts opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, but the Lions cut that deficit in half in the fifth as Caitlin Seamster (Edison, NJ/John P. Stevens) reached on a base hit and later scored when junior Ellen Seavers (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) knocked her in with another single.
Salisbury increased the lead to 5-1 with three runs in the fifth and added another in the sixth extending its lead to 5-1.
TCNJ scored its final run in the top of the sixth as sophomore Jamie Moir (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored on a wild pitch.
Seavers finished the game with a pair of hits for the Lions.
