NJAC Top 70-in-70: #64 - Robin Selbst

10/13/2026 9:57:00 AM

PITMAN, N.J. - Trenton State College's Robin Selbst was tabbed No. 64 in the latest edition of the New Jersey Athletic Conference's Top 70-in-70 series.

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the NJAC will name its top 70 student-athletes in the 70-year history of the conference. All selections were made by a panel comprised of current and former athletic administrators, current and former athletic communications personnel, conference office staff, and media. Consideration was limited to full-member institution student-athletes who competed in sports currently sponsored by the NJAC.

Selbst made history during her time at Trenton State, becoming the only player in Division III history to win a national championship in three different team sports – a feat that still stands today. Selbst totaled four national titles during her playing years, winning once in field hockey (1991) and twice in softball (1994 & 1995) before winning a fourth national championship in lacrosse as a fifth-year senior in 1996.

Selbst's resume as an individual athlete is just as impressive, having totaled four First Team All-America nods – two in both field hockey and softball – during the four years in which she was a dual-sport athlete. Thirty years since her graduation, Selbst still stands among the best to play for either program, ranking 10th in program history in assists in field hockey (33) while also finding herself in the top-15 of softball's storied program in career batting average (.411 / 12th), RBIs (114 / 12th) and runs.

Selbst has carried her success as a student-athlete to the coaching side of the game, having served as a full-time assistant coach for the Lions' field hockey and lacrosse teams for the last 25 years. During her tenure, TCNJ has captured six more national titles – four in field hockey and two in lacrosse – cementing Selbst as one of the best winners to come through the Lions' athletics program.

Selbst was inducted into the TCNJ Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
