Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team remained undefeated at home as the Lions coasted past the visiting Dolphins of College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday, 16-0.
The Lions are now 8-0 on their home field and 12-2 overall, while the Dolphins slipped to 8-5 snapping their modest two-game winning streak.
TCNJ held a 24-3 advantage in shots picking up their second shutout of the season as goalies Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) and Laura Wasserman (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) each made one save.
At the offensive end of the field, the Lions potted 10 goals in the opening half and tacked on six more in the final 30 minutes. Freshman Kathleen Notos Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) led the charge with a career-high five goals and one assist, while junior Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) scored three times and set up two others. Sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) and senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) each played key roles in generating the attack as Jaeger had one goal and four assists and Reuther tallied once and dished out three assists.
In goal for the Dolphins, junior Karen Laurent (East Elmhurst, NY/St. John's Prep) made six saves.
The Lions are home again on Saturday, April 25 hosting Frostburg State University at 1 p.m., while the Dolphins wrap up the regular season on Saturday playing at Polytechnic in a 7 p.m. start.
