Florham, NJ... Led by the shooting of senior
Aaron Syvertsen (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park), The College of New Jersey men's basketball team won their second straight game defeating FDU-Florham 86-69. The victory pushes the Lions (6-5, 0-2 NJAC) back over the .500 mark for the season.
Syvertsen scored a game-high 22 points including four three-pointers on 9-of-15 shooting. Teammate
Jay Frank (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) chipped in with 13 points, and now is seven points shy of the 1,000-point milestone at TCNJ. The senior guard also had eight rebounds and four assists on the night.
The Lions took command of the game from the get-go building a 40-24 halftime lead shooting better than 51 percent from the floor. Their second-half offense was even more impressive shooting 57 percent and 54 percent for the game.
Steven Siracusa (New Providence, NJ/New Providence), Steve Feinberg (Middletown, NJ/Red Bank Catholic), and
Pat Szukics (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) all added eight points for TCNJ while freshman
Brandon Johnson (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) dished out four assists.
The men's team visits New Jersey City University for a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up this Saturday at 4 p.m.
