Union, NJ ... The College of New Jersey men's soccer notched its second clutch conference win on the road this week downing Kean University 2-1.
After surrendering an early goal ten minutes into the match, goals by junior
Ray Nelan (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) and
Chris Pisano (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) sparked the Lions to a 2-1 triumph.
The victory assures TCNJ (7-5-2, 5-1-1 NJAC) a spot in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs. The Lions have now won three straight games and haven't lost a game in their last six matches.
Nelan tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season converting on a penalty kick midway through the opening half to tie the score at one. Pisano then took a serve from freshman
Sean Casey (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) with just under three minutes remaining in the half and put home the game-winner. It was Pisano's second goal of the season.
The loss was the third straight for the Cougars and comes off the heels of a 2-1 defeat to Montclair State University. TCNJ goalkeeper
Adam Friedman (Chester, NJ/West Morris Mendham) needed just two saves for the win as Kean managed just six shots in 90 minutes of play.
TCNJ returns home to play Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Lions' Stadium. Their next conference game is Saturday, October 23 at 1 p.m. against New Jersey City University. The game will be played at TCNJ Soccer Complex.
