Jersey City, NJ... Sophomore Brenna Rubino (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) netted a pair of goals as The College of New Jersey women's soccer team picked up a 4-0 road win on Saturday at New Jersey City University.
The win puts the Lions at 7-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and 13-2-1 overall. TCNJ closes out the regular season hosting rival Rowan University on Tuesday, October 26 with a bye in the opening round of the conference tournament on the line. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Lions' Stadium.
Against the Gothic Knights, Rubino scored the only goal of the opening half with that goal coming 20:11 into the contest.
TCNJ's offense added to that lead in the second as Rubino headed in her second goal of the game on a cross from sophomore Allyson Anderson (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) 7:22 into the new half.
The Lions then added two more goals in the final 10:08 with Jessica Davila (Middletown, NJ/Middletown) getting the first of those scores unassisted with Toni DeMaio (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills) getting the latter. Davila also picked up an assist on DeMaio's goal.
TCNJ has dominated NJCU over the years winning all 16 matches between the two programs.
Lion goalkeeper Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) garnered her ninth shutout of the season as she made a pair of saves.
