Cunha, Nelan, Nazario lead All-NJAC selections

Phillip Cunha also earned the David Logar award.
Pitman, NJ ... The New Jersey Athletic Conference released its post-season awards for men's soccer and the regular season champions, The College of New Jersey, were well-represented in earning honors and recognition.

Senior Phillip Cunha (Milford, NJ/Immaculata) and junior Ray Nelan (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) earned All-NJAC First Team honors, while head coach George Nazario was named NJAC Coach of the Year.

Also selected to the All-NJAC Honorable Mention team were senior Mike Razzoli (Parlin, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy), sophomore Ryan O'Donnell (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), and sophomore Vince McEnroe (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough).

Cunha, who was an honorable mention selection in 2008, led a solid defensive unit that progressed throughout the season. TCNJ went 6-0-1 in its last seven conference games and have gone 7-0-2 in their last nine contests. Cunha scored a goal against Richard Stockton College in a 1-1 tie, and also assisted on a goal in a 2-1 double overtime win against Rowan University.

Cunha was also the recipient of the conference's David Logar Award, presented annually to the player who best displays the attributes of leadership and courage.

Nelan emerged as an offensive force, leading the Lions with seven goals and 14 points this season. He's scored seven goals in the last eight games and six straight that he's appeared. (Nelan was held out of the line-up against Berkeley College and Rowan.)

Razzoli was a leader on the field, scoring a pair of goals against conference opponents and assisted on another. O'Donnell and McEnroe joined Cunha in the backfield and had excellent seasons. McEnroe, who takes most of the restarts, led the Lions with five assists. O'Donnell notched the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Rutgers University-Camden.

Nazario claimed his third NJAC Coach of the Year honors to go along with his selections in 1996 and 2005. Picked to finish seventh in the NJAC preseason coaches poll, TCNJ went 9-5-3 overall and 7-1-1 in the NJAC to finish first.

The Lions square off against Montclair State University tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30 p.m. in the NJAC semifinal match at Lions' Stadium.
