Clermont, FL...The College of New Jersey softball team had another banner day on the diamond as the Lions picked up two more victories as they exploded for 28 runs in those two games on Friday in Florida.
The Lions started the day with a 16-0 win over Pine Manor College in a game that lasted five innings and then picked up a 12-4 triumph over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Those two wins kept the Lions undefeated at 6-0 on the season.
TCNJ has an off day on Thursday before looking to add to their streak on Friday facing Simmons College and Pitt-Bradford.

Sophomore Crystal Lee (Dover, NJ/Morris Knolls) spearheaded a 14-hit attack for the Lions going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored.
Senior Dani Hagel (Egg Harbor City, NJ/Oakcrest) went 2-for-2 at the plate with a three-run triple in the first inning that saw TCNJ score five times. Freshman Kelly Hommen (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) also had two hits and drove in three runs.
Sophomore pitcher Lauren Fitzsimmons (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) got the win throwing three hitless innings, while junior Colleen Cawley (Riverton, NJ/Holy Cross) made her season debut on the mound with two scoreless innings.

Both teams had the offense going early as the Lions plated eight runs in the top of the first inning, while the Engineers came right back to cut that deficit in half with four in the latter half of the inning.
TCNJ then kept RPI off of the board the rest of the way, while the Lion bats remained hot adding four more runs.
Sophomore Katelyn Congilose (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) had the big hit in that opening inning with a bases-loaded double bringing home all three runners.
Senior Ellen Seavers (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), Hagel, and Lee each finished with two hits in the game and Hommen had two RBI.
Senior Ashley Minervini (Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside Park) kept her record perfect on the year with a complete game allowing four hits with five strikeouts.
