Box Score
Ewing, NJ... In a good mid-season test between a pair of teams gearing up for post-season play, Johns Hopkins University tallied the lone goal as they slipped past The College of New Jersey women's soccer team 1-0 at a rain-soaked Lions' Stadium on Wednesday.
The outcome saw one streak extended and another come to an end as the 11th-ranked Lions (9-2) had their nine-game win streak halted, while the fifth-ranked Blue Jays (12-0) picked up their 12th straight victory.
The Blue Jays broke through for the game's only goal with 23:23 left in the second half as Hannah Kronick (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) collected a rebound off of the cross bar and netted her 13th goal of the season. Taylor Schulte (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) took the initial shot that bounced off of the bar and directly to Kronick.
The Lions did have a couple of scoring chances with
Brittany McGinley (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) creating two of the better ones, with one in each half. In the opening frame, she laced a shot just high only 36 seconds into the game and another in the second when she beat the JHU's keeper to the ball, but the Blue Jay net minder was able to come up with the save.
Junior
Allyson Anderson (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) also had a good scoring chance, but her shot from the wing hooked just over the net.
Freshman goalie
Cristina Gacos (Sea Girt, NJ/Wall) finished with a career-high eight saves in the game.
TCNJ's next game is on the road as the Lions head to Kean University for a 1 p.m. start with the Cougars on Saturday, October 15.
