Glassboro, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Rowan University in its 2011 season finale.

The Profs (9-5-3, 4-2-2 NJAC) scored a pair of goals in the first 11 minutes of play and capped the win with a third tally in the 78th minute. The victory gives Rowan an opening round home game in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs after Rutgers University-Newark was defeated by Richard Stockton College 2-1.

The Lions finished the season with five wins and four ties against eight losses. The shutout loss was just the third time TCNJ was held scoreless this year.

After a strong 3-1 start to the season, the Lions could not seem to build momentum. Six of their eight losses were by one goal, several of which came late in the game.

Sophomore Kevin Shaw (Brookside, NJ/West Morris Mendham) led the team in points with 11 (four goals, three assists) and was matched in tallies by senior Ed Kozic (Raritan, NJ/Immaculata). Sophomore Sean Casey (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) had a team-high five assists, while junior Taylor Gregory (Sea Girt, NJ/Wall) had a solid season on offense registering nine points (three goals, three assists).

The game was also the final contest for seven seniors on TCNJ's squad: Kozic, Luigi Moriello (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame), Ryan O'Donnell (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), Michael Recchia (Wayside, NJ/Ocean Twp.), Dan Constants (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills), Anthony DiPalmo (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional), and Chris Pisano (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen).

A highlight to the season was a 4-2 win over Kean University on Senior Day. All four goals were scored by seniors, along with a pair of assists.

Pisano does have another year of eligibility if he decides to return next season.
