Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's basketball team fell to Richard Stockton College 72-46 on Wednesday night in Packer Hall.
The Lions (3-20, 0-12) were led by senior
Steve Siracusa (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) who notched a double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds and 11 points.
The Ospreys (15-8, 7-4) had four players in double figures led by senior Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside, NJ/Haddon Heights) who had 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Junior Pat Kelly (Cape May, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) tallied 12 points while sophomore Nnamdi Usuwa (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) and freshman Ibn Moye (Toms River, NJ/Central Regional) reach dropped in 10 points.
TCNJ led 23-21 late in the first half, but the Ospreys went on a run late in the period to take a 32-26 lead at the intermission. Siracusa grabbed everything in his reach, compiling 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes. Stockton, however, had a balanced attack with seven different players scoring points.
The Ospreys surged ahead in the second half with a 22-9 run to take a 58-39 lead. They took good care of the basketball turning it over just five times in the game and shot better than 50 percent in the final 20 minutes.
Freshman
Dan Balevski (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor North) had a season-high seven points off the bench for the Lions while senior Al Matlock (Trenton, NJ/Solebury) dropped in a pair of 3-pointers for six points.
TCNJ has two more home games to finish out their regular season schedule taking on Valley Forge Christian College on Saturday, February 12 at 1 p.m. before their season finale on Wednesday, February 16 at Rowan University.
